With a vision of the future and solid values, Costa Food Group is committed to being natural from the source. This involves our commitment to the environment and respect for animals, our high-welfare farms, and quality achieved through the controlled circular process of pig production and charcuterie product creation (Piensos Costa → Costa Food Meat → Casademont).
All of this revolves around a single axis: people, to whose health, safety and welfare we are firmly committed.
At Piensos Costa, we control and select excellent top-quality raw materials, such as wheat, barley, maize, soy and lard, always monitoring our sources and quality. The result is a natural, balanced feed (pellets and meal) for animal consumption that is prepared at our factories in Fraga and Huesca in Aragon, and Artajona and Caparroso in Navarre.
This is how our controlled integrated process begins: At this initial stage, it allows us to achieve total animal traceability which is essential for guaranteeing the food safety of the product.
Piensos Costa has over 650 associated farms located in Aragon, Navarre, Castile-Leon and Catalonia. Our commitment to welfare, which is rooted in the group’s respect for the environment and the welfare of the livestock, is evident in all of them: We have put bio-security measures in place to detect potential hazards (biological, chemical and physical), thus ensuring a high-quality end product.
In this way, and using our own veterinary services, we continue the circular process by controlling the entire pig production cycle across its different raising and fattening stages.
In addition, genetic selection of the best breeds allows us to obtain meat that is more tender, flavoursome and nutritious.
The Costa Food Meat butchering and storage facilities, located in Vic (Barcelona), are the next step in our controlled circular process. They are attached to the slaughterhouse, allowing the quality of the pork to be kept in the best conditions for its transformation. Equipped with the latest technology to guarantee food safety, it is committed to rigorous quality control as well as flexibility to adapt to the needs of each client.
At Costa Food Meat, we produce more than 130 million kg of pork to the highest standards every year. At Costa Food Meat, and in accordance with the Group’s philosophy of continuous improvement, we reinvest all our profits every year to remain on the cutting edge of the sector, modernising our facilities and improving all our processes.
Casademont’s and Villar’s prepared products represent the final stage in our controlled circular process. Our brand combines an artisanal tradition of charcuterie – that goes back over three generations – with advanced technology to offer results that meet the demands of different types of consumers.
At Casademont, we can make everything from classic charcuterie – including our famous fuet – to the most creative and original items in our line of experience products. Healthy living is also prioritised via our gourmet meat products and our products that improve consumer well-being. All the brand’s products are gluten-free.
Villar has more than 60 years producing Iberian and white pork goods of the highest quality and, today, a reference in the Spanish meat sector.
People are our most important asset: consumers, employees, partners... Their satisfaction and welfare guide our activity.
We are committed to direct distribution to the client, offering the best service to maintain product quality. This is done mainly through our own fleet of delivery vehicles which allows direct temperature control and guarantees that all products arrive in the condition specified at the outset of the circular process.
Costa Food Group’s staff consists of 1,200 direct employees and 1,800 associated ones who work at the different production centres that form part of the circular model. These require different professional profiles. One of our core ideas as a group is putting down roots in the places where our production centres are located.
